About Me

I'm a little unusual as a therapist in that I quite obviously lead a life outside the psychological arena & I don't make a point of pretending otherwise. In the world's briefest biography, I'm an English native living in Australia, working online with clients from all over the world whilst I continue to work internationally as a singer-songwriter. Now I am aware that the duality of these two spaces is almost nearly entirely unheard of, and therapists tend to seemingly only exist in therapy. But my job is to help you feel better, live your best life, & be your fullest self, so at the very least, I should be an example of what that looks like.

All informalities aside, I'm a trauma specialist, published academic author, AMHSW, EMDR practitioner & director of "Company by Laurent" - free online therapy resources for the win, & the best way of finding me outside of here with a quick google. I've trained in prestigious programs across Australia, England & America to gain professional qualifications from some of the most exceptional professionals in the field to date. I work with 18+, couples & have extensive experience with military veterans, having mobilised the first social work sector for veterans with complex trauma in the UK. I work very hard because I love what I do, so I'm constantly learning and make sure I stay at the forefront of research. Therapy is an evolving animal and your treatment should reflect that.

I (genuinely) believe that mental freedom lies in our ability to be our authentic selves, & in order to do that, we have to know who that is, and what they need to thrive. That might look like processing trauma, developing boundaries, navigating an existential crisis, or exploring the very thing we're unhelpfully trying to avoid. That's why therapy, the right therapist, & some keen application of "do it your self -help", is the absolute Willy Wonka of golden tickets to a life you like living. You don't have to put on a"brave face" here, pretend, or bend to social norms that most of us don't agree with or like anyway. Just show up. If you want a direct authentic, eclectic therapist who can make therapy actually feel therapeutic (maybe even refreshing?) - you've found her.

At this point I would just like to add, that Online Therapy is a self-directed, CBT program. That means, I work with you in a supportive capacity, and as such, I do not explicitly offer video sessions. Support is predominantly provided via text sessions, with a limited and finite amount of video availability each week on a demand basis. When it's used in this way I can say honestly that it works. If you're looking for intervention that is more therapist-led and directed than supported, assessments, trauma therapy (EMDR, CPT), diagnosis, or need more complex support, it might be worth considering more traditional online or face-to-face therapy only appointments. I'm happy to have a conversation about this with you if it's something you think you feel will be helpful to think about, as at the end of the day, it's about you accessing what works best for you.
